Founded by friends Alisha and Elizabeth, our journey began with a shared love of food. While visiting family in Australia, Alisha encountered chili crisps – and brought back a jar for Elizabeth. We both fell in love with the taste and texture of chili crisps and quickly learned how versatile the condiment could be for us and our families. While searching for replacements, it was tough to find a chili crisp that sourced high quality ingredients and healthy oils – and still had delicious flavor and a satisfying crunch. So we formed 5 Lakes Flavor and created a lighter, brighter, and cleaner chili crisp – Ruby Crunch!
As we moved from kitchen experimentation to full-scale commercial production, we were fortunate to partner with MSU Product Center, a resource for entrepreneurs that provides expert guidance on everything from product development, sourcing, shelf stability, and establishing a business framework.
